Lurking Crawfish Wild Traits
This template has access to the following wild traits:
Agile. The creature gains proficiency in Dexterity saving throws and it can use its choice of its Strength or Dexterity modifier for attack and damage rolls with unarmed attacks. The creature must use the same modifier for both rolls.
Bulky. The template gains proficiency in Strength and Constitution saving throws.
Deep Adaptation. The creature gains darkvision to a range of 120 feet. The creature also has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when it or whatever it is trying to perceive is in bright light.
Firm Grip. This creature can grapple creatures of any size. If this creature grapples a creature that is larger than itself, the grappled creature’s speed is not reduced to 0. Instead, this creature moves into the grappled creature’s space and attaches itself to the grappled creature until the grapple ends. While attached to another creature, this creature automatically moves with the creature when it moves. While grappled in this way, the grappled creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against this creature.
Keen senses (sight). The creature has advantage on Wisdom (perception) checks that rely on sight.
Large. (counts as 2 wild traits). The creature’s size is large and as a result the creature gains +2 bonus to its armour class and a 1d4 damage bonus to its melee damage rolls. The large trait replaces the template’s physical ability scores with: Strength 17 (+3), Dex 12 (+1), Con 15 (+2). The creature’s maximum hit points also increase by 1 for each of your druid levels.
Multiattack: Crushing Jaw (counts as 2 wild traits). When the creature takes the attack action, it can use a bonus action to make an attack with a crushing jaw:
Crushing Jaw . Melee attack, reach 5 ft., 1d10 bludgeoning damage. If this creature is already grappling the target, this attack automatically hits the target.
Multiattack: Writhing Tentacles (counts as 2 wild traits). When the creature takes the attack action, it can use a bonus action to make an attack with writhing tentacles:
Writhing Tentacles. Melee attack, reach 10 ft., On a hit, the target is grappled. If the target was already grappled when hit by the writhing tentacles, the target is also restrained until the grapple ends. This creature can grapple and restrain up to 4 creatures with this trait. A target that is larger than the creature is immune to this trait.
Natural Camouflage. This creature can attempt to hide by pressing itself up against a solid surface, allowing it to hide in plain sight. If the creature hides against a surface, it remains hidden for as long as it remains there without moving or taking actions. Once it moves or takes an action or a reaction, the creature is revealed. Any creature that observes the creature hide in this way remains aware of the creature’s location.
Natural Protection. The creature’s armour class becomes 16 instead of the template’s normal armour class and it does not add Dexterity to its armour class.
Protective Shell. When the creature takes bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from an attack, the damage is reduced by an amount equal to the creature’s Constitution modifier.
Special Attack: Toxic Mucus. When the creature takes an attack action, it can replace one of its attacks with a special attack, toxic mucus:
Toxic Mucus A target within 5 feet of this creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed saving throw, the target is covered in slimy mucus. The target is diseased until the mucus is removed as an action. While covered in the mucus, the target also takes 1d4 poison damage at the end of each of it’s turns and its speed is reduced by 10 feet.
Sprinter. The creature can take the dash action as a bonus action.
