Roguish Archetype

Scout

The Scout Rogue excels in uncharted territories, using their keen instincts and survival skills to map out unknown lands and uncover hidden secrets.

Ready for Anything

Beginning when you become a scout at 3rd level, you gain three special dice called scout dice. Your scout dice are d6. You regain all expending scout dice when you finish a short or long rest.

You can use you scout dice in the following ways:

  • Scout’s Initiative. When you roll initiative, you can expend one of you scout dice as a reaction to roll the dice and add the result as a bonus to your initiative roll.

  • Scout’s Positioning.  When you start your turn, you can expend one of your scout dice to move up to half your speed before taking your turn. When you use your scout dice like this, you can also roll the dice the first time you make an attack on that turn and add the result as a bonus to the attack roll.

  • Scout’s Search. When you fail a Wisdom (perception) check, or a saving throw against a trap, you can expend one of your dice. Roll the dice and add the result to the roll potentially changing it into a success.

Vanguard Scout

Beginning at 9th level, you gain two additional scout dice between short rests (for a total of five dice).

You can also spend your scout dice in the following ways:

  • Vanguard’s Interference. When another creature you can see within 5 feet of you succeeds on a saving throw, you can expend a scout dice as a reaction. Roll the dice and subtract the result from the saving throw, potentially turning the success into a failure.

  • Vanguard’s Mark. When another creature within 60 feet of you misses with an attack, you can expend one of your scout dice as a reaction. Roll the dice and add the total to the result of the attack, potentially turning the attack into a success.

  • Vanguard’s Sneak. When you roll Dexterity (stealth) you can expend a scout dice and roll the dice. Add the result of the roll to the ability check. Other creatures also have disadvantage to Wisdom (perception) checks to find you until you move.

Uncanny Skirmish

When you use your uncanny dodge feature, you can also immediately move up to half you speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

Sudden Strike

Starting at 18th level, you can strike with deadly speed.

Whenever you expend a scout dice as a reaction or use your uncanny dodge feature, you can make a weapon attack as part of that reaction against a target that is within the weapons reach or range.

If you used a scout dice as part of the reaction, you can also add the result of the roll to your damage roll for this attack.
