You alter the physical properties of a 1 cubic foot, nonmagical object you touch, changing it from one substance into another for the duration. You can transform one object made entirely of wood, stone (but not a gemstone), iron, copper, or silver, transforming it into a different one of those materials.

You can extend the casting time of this spell in 1 minute increments, increasing the size of the target object by 1 cubic foot of material for each additional minute. When the spell ends, the material reverts to its original substance.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell with a spell slot of 9th level, the spells duration becomes instantaneous instead, making the material change permanently. When you do so, you can also change the material into gold or gemstones. You cannot make any changes to an object’s material that would make it worth more than 1,000 gold pieces.
