Spell Description

You create an ethereal candle within range that hovers in the air for the duration.

The candle sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius. Creatures in the light have disadvantage on death saving throws. If a creature in the light dies, you can use your reaction to either heal or harm creatures in the light:

  • Harm. If you chose to harm creatures, all creatures in the area must make a Constitution saving throw or take 1d6 necrotic damage.

  • Heal. If you chose to heal, one creature in the light can expend a hit dice and regain hit points equal to a roll of that hit dice + your spellcasting ability modifier.

Once you use a reaction to gain one of these effects, the spell immediately ends. The spell also ends if you cast it again or dismiss it as a bonus action.

Cantrip Scaling. This spell's damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and again at 17th level (4d6).
