Spell Description

When you cast this spell, choose one object weighing 1 to 5 pounds you can see within range. The object is thrown in a straight line up to 90 feet in a direction you choose before falling to the ground, stopping early if it impacts against a solid surface.

If the object would strike a creature or another object, that creature must make a Dexterity saving throw (objects fail this save automatically). On a failed save, the object strikes the target and stops moving. When the object strikes something, the object and what it strikes each take 3d8 bludgeoning damage.

If the object would strike you, you can immediately catch it if you have a hand free and the object is one you can hold in your hands instead of taking damage.

If you target an object that is being carried by another creature, that creature must make a Strength saving throw preventing the object from flying anywhere on a success. A creature has advantage on this saving throw if it holds the object with at least two hands.

The DM can allow this spell to deal other types of damage depending on the object thrown (e.g. a spear might deal piercing damage).

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the maximum weight of objects that you can target with this spell increases by 10 pounds, and the damage increases by 3d8, for each two slot levels above 1st. If you cast this spell with a 5th level spell slot or higher, you can also target a creature that is medium or smaller to throw with this spell, giving it an initial Strength saving throw to avoid being thrown.
